Kitselas would like to announce a new project through BC Housing: Community Housing Fund with nearly 540 affordable rental homes being built throughout BC for people with low to moderate incomes.

This program will allow for thousands of new homes to be built that are affordable for a mix of people, from growing families to seniors on fixed incomes. Through this program, Gitaus Kitselas First Nation will have 40 on-reserve homes for Elders, youth and families, in partnership with Kitselas Housing Society.

Kitselas is the only community in the North that received this funding so this is a huge success for our nation. Director of Housing-PW-Infrastructure Ulyses Venegas, worked very hard the last 2 years on this project.

Construction is expected to start June 2021, for now development of the actual construction design are the next steps. Includes engineering, architectural design, and tendering early next year. Construction could take up to 12-14 months.
From Sept to December 2019, Housing Dept met with different groups in Kitselas such as: Elders, Youth, General Community, and staff. Surveys were created for community members to complete and we are very grateful for the amount of input.
